What is TheGimme?
TheGimme is a golf tracking and social platform designed to help you lower your scores. Track your rounds hole-by-hole, get strokes gained analytics, calculate your WHS handicap, and compete with friends on leaderboards — all in one app.
Is TheGimme free to use?
Yes! TheGimme is free to sign up and use. You can track unlimited rounds, calculate your handicap, and connect with friends at no cost. We may introduce premium features in the future, but core tracking and analytics will always be free.
How is my handicap calculated?
TheGimme calculates your handicap index using the World Handicap System (WHS) methodology. After you post rounds, the system computes your handicap differential for each round using the course's slope and rating, then takes the average of your best 8 out of your most recent 20 differentials.
What are Strokes Gained analytics?
Strokes Gained is a statistical method that measures your performance in each area of the game (driving, approach, short game, putting) against a benchmark. It tells you exactly where you gain or lose strokes compared to a scratch or bogey golfer, helping you focus practice on the right areas.
How do I add friends?
Head to the Social tab in the app and search for friends by their username or email. Send them a friend request, and once they accept, you'll be able to see their rounds, compare stats, and compete on leaderboards together.
How many golf courses are in the database?
Our database includes over 5,000 golf courses across all 50 states, with more than 15,000 tee options. Each course includes slope rating, course rating, par, and yardage for every available tee. We update our course data regularly to ensure accuracy.
Can I use TheGimme offline?
Yes! You can track your round while offline. Your data will automatically sync to the cloud once you're back online, so you never lose a single shot or stat even in areas with poor cell reception.
Is my data secure?
Absolutely. Your personal information and golf data are encrypted in transit, and passwords are hashed with bcrypt — we never store them in readable form. We never sell your data to third parties, and you can permanently delete your account and all of its data at any time from Settings. You can also request a copy of your data by emailing support@thegimme.app.
How do I report a bug or request a feature?
We'd love to hear from you! Visit our Contact Us page and fill out the form with your feedback, bug report, or feature request. Our team reviews every submission and we actively use player feedback to shape the product roadmap.
Do you support Apple Watch or wearables?
Wearable support is on our roadmap. We're currently focused on delivering the best mobile web experience, and plan to add Apple Watch and other wearable integrations in a future update. Stay tuned!
